Case presentation at theatre CaSE civil and structural engineering project

Last week, Jonathan Davies and Florian Dieterle, from the CaSE team, delivered a presentation for Engineers Australia on the Queensferry Crossing’s Temporary Works. A number of our team were integral to the world record-holding project, working in various roles such as Site Engineer, Quality Manager and Section Head.

Sharing insights from behind the scenes, some of the key takeaways from the presentation include:

  1. Interfaces between permanent and temporary works offer great risks but can be turned into opportunities for optimisation when attended to early on.
  2. Temporary works often don’t strictly follow textbooks and codes. Peer reviews by an experienced third party are essential.
  3. Commissioning and site inspections of temporary works should follow a certain protocol and are an important part of a safe operation.

Many thanks to the 150 Engineers who attended and the great questions that were asked.

If you have any more questions that you didn’t get to ask on the night or weren’t able to make it and would like to know more, please get in touch with the team.
