About the role
We’re seeking a Commercial Manager to join an innovative team of industry leaders in transport, while working on one of the most exciting high-profile projects in the country. As our Commercial Manager, reporting to the Commercial Director, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
- You’ll manage all contractual and commercial aspects of the project, including contract administration, claims mitigation, and compliance to ensure adherence and conformance of contract delivery requirements and best practice governance
- You’ll understand contract ramifications and draw on your own strategic and commercial thinking to run short, medium and long-term strategies
- You’ll employ a proactive risk management approach to identify and anticipate current and potential risks, input them into ARM, develop risk mitigation strategies as required and attend project risk meetings for the SRA/QRA
- You’ll contribute to and review project reporting and financial management as required, including Project Flash Reports, Board papers, Project Steering Committee Reports, payment claims and business cases and presentations to internal stakeholders on project commercial matters as required
- You’ll work closely with the Completions stream to achieve Project Completion
- Using a relationship-driven approach, you’ll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- You’re an experienced Commercial Manager, (or in a similar role) and you’ve managed the Principal-Contractor relationship together with downstream contracts within a ‘PPP’ model
- You can read and understand complex commercial contracts and interpret and apply legislation
- You’re commercially astute with a proactive approach to managing risk, with experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, understanding and interpreting detailed construction contracts, commercial terms and financial data
- You will be proactive and seek timely advice on technical and operational perspectives from both internal and external sources to ensure the most favourable commercial outcome
- A natural relationship-builder and communicator, you can engage, influence and collaborate effectively and tactfully, even in challenging circumstances.
