The Sandy Park Hotel in Exeter was constructed across Old Rydon Lane from the car park and rugby ground. A linkspan bridge was installed to connect the hotel to these facilities.
CaSE was employed as the permanent works designer and developed a steel footbridge using plate girders stabilized by U-frame action, an orthotropic steel deck plate, and an architectural canopy. The 40-tonne, 27m x 4m structure was built locally in Newton Abbot and lifted into place by cranes during a seven-hour operation.
