The Union Chain Bridge refurbishment involved the complete removal, refurbishment, and reinstallation of the deck and chains.
A temporary works system was developed using an overhead cable crane to access the main span from above and below via suspended cradles and platforms, eliminating the need to use the river below. With this access system and electric winches also suspended over the deck, the entire deck was dismantled piece by piece. The chains were de-tensioned by suspending each one individually from the cable crane, disconnecting it at the English-side anchorage, and hauling it to the loading area on land.
CaSE se empleó como verificador independiente de trabajos temporales.
