The Kingsford Smith Drive is one of the busiest and key roads for traffic travelling through and from Brisbane Airport connecting it to the CBD, Port of Brisbane, and the Australia TradeCoast region. The upgrade involves road widening from four to six lanes. It also included improvement works, providing increased road capacity, and significantly improved pedestrian and cycle facilities reducing traffic congestion and improving overall safety.
CaSE provided Structural Project Engineers to the project who were responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing insitu high strength concrete pours for the construction of the cantilever road structure. The structure itself, sitting on more than 150 piles was very much a marine project using crane barges to lift in the 50-tonne precast concrete cantilever panels.
