The Sandy Park Hotel in Exeter is to be built across Old Rydon Lane from the carpark and rugby ground. A linkspan bridge is required to connect the hotel to these facilities.
CaSE were employed as permanent works designer and designed a steel footbridge using plate girders stabilized by U-frame action, an orthotropic steel deck plate and an architectural canopy. The 40-tonne, 27m x 4m structure, which was built locally in Newton Abbot and lifted into place by cranes during what a seven-hour operation. View the bridge installation time laps here.
