Hound Point is a marine terminal located off a rocky headland in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Its mid-river berth allows oil tankers to offload cargo to a pipeline system that transfers it inland for processing at Grangemouth. The pipeline is supported by a series of steel trusses spanning piers in the river.
CaSE was contracted to design a moveable access platform to support the repainting of the truss spans between the berth and the shore. Our scope included the design of the platform itself, a weatherproof enclosure, and the rails fixed to the permanent structure. The platform employed a proprietary system designed for efficiency and ease of use.
